I call this ‘February’… It’s still cold and dreary with none of the excitement of December or optimism of January – and it’s seductively close to March or April with more sunshine, Easter holidays, and new flowers.
Three quick and simple ways to boost your energy in February:
1. Feel pretty and look professional with a great manicure.
From the
Five Facets, find a way to treat yourself and boost your visual facet with a quick fix. Get a good manicure (I love
Shellac!!) in a color you normally wouldn’t wear. It’s a treat for you AND it boots your image as manicures are one of the big image blunders a lot of women make – nails can’t be unkempt, but also shouldn’t be overdone. So no ‘bling’, just classic!
2. Be inspired to makeover yourself and watch a great ‘makeover movie’.
Oh, how we love them. Characters go from mousy to beautiful; from inarticulate to great orators; from shy to confident. Be inspired to makeover yourself with some of these classic transformation films: My Fair Lady, The Iron Lady, Pretty Woman, Sliding Doors, The Devil Wears Prada, Working Girl, The King’s Speech, Clueless, Emma. Do you have other favorites? Let me know! I use many film clips in my
workshops to illustrate points and keep the audience energized. So energize yourself today!
3. Commit to break through the blocks to tap your inner power and begin creating your life’s work
January is about resolutions; February is about reality setting in. What’s really setting in is resistance and everyone with a body has resistance, too. It is what tells you ‘it’s not the right time’ or ‘I’ll start tomorrow’ and it only delays and delays and keeps you feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. I was recently turned on to a great book ‘The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield and have been recommending it to friends who need a kick in the bum to get themselves going (myself included!)
And… A Bonus February Energy Boosting Tip:
Get outside when there’s a patch of sunshine!
They can be few and far between this time of year, so make a plan for what you’ll do with the next 15 minutes of sunshine that suddenly presents itself and be prepared to seize it. Will you go for a 15 minute walk or run? A quick bike ride? Explore a park nearby that you’ve never been to before? A little Vitamin D, fresh air, and time in nature helps clear the cobwebs inside us all. Feeling really bold? Buy yourself flowers (or pick a stem if you can find one this time of year) to remind yourself that spring is coming!
