Men’s Self Image: How to Project Confidence by Understanding Your Personal Brand
Defining your personal brand is easier with the expertise and perspective of an image and personal branding consultant. But if you want to refine your image on your own, the first step to unlocking your personal brand is to find out what makes you ‘light up.’
When you’re passionate, you have more energy, a more confident voice, become magnetic, and activate your charisma – essentially, you become attractive!
What are your hot spot brand attributes?
Think about what makes you light up? When I work with a client I ask about their life, what they enjoy, and the choices they’ve made. As they respond I notice their energy – high and low. When they light up and become magnetic, I identify that as a ‘hot spot’ topic.
Hot Spot Interviewing Techniques
Going into an interview, your strategy is to focus on your hot spot topics. Identify three areas you feel passionate and energetic about – then prepare stories that are ‘wow’ moments and lead the interviewer to them.
How to guide the interview
Sound hard? It’s actually easy. Think about the most likely questions you’ll be asked by the interviewer. For each question, create a ‘path’ that shifts the conversation to a hot spot story where you light up.
When you guide the interview this way, you ensure you’re lighting up frequently making a solid first impression.
Worried about coming across as too cocky? If that’s even a concern, odds are you have a lower tone naturally and you actually need to amplify your energy.
Going into the interview – pre-interview techniques
Before the interview, stop and try to generate positive, calm, confident energy. Review your hot spot stories and bridging techniques; check to make sure your clothes and accessories align with your personal brand; and then you’re good to go!
